Seven reasons why you should be doing Instagram Stories
It’s the shiny, (semi) new way of socialising with your audience that all the cool kids are doing. But it is just a fad … or is there a real reason you should spend your valuable time crafting Instagram Stories?
Here at Delilah Creative, we’re all about helping you get the most out of your investment, whether that’s financially, emotionally or mentally. And let’s be honest: Creating consistent content for Instagram Stories ticks at least two (and sometimes three) of those investments.
So … is it worth it? Should you add Instagram Stories to your dossier of customer attraction and conversion strategies?
In a word: Yes.
In two words: HECK yes.
Here are seven reasons why.
1. You’ll gain access to a WHOLE lot of eyeballs.
Instagram recently humble-bragged that around 400 million users view Stories every day. That’s more than the entire population of the United States (and more users than Snapchat, by the way).
If you could get your biz in front of even 0.001% of those peeps, you’d do it right?
2. They’ll make you super discoverable.
You know how the search function in Instagram exposes you to new accounts you don’t currently follow? It’s the same deal with Instagram Stories. People that don’t follow you will be able to see your posts (yay!), so it’s a great chance to expose yourself to a new audience.
Plus, you can pop hashtags in your Stories to make them even more discoverable!
3. You’ll increase your engagement.
I know the words ‘Instagram algorithm’ are enough to send a shudder through any business, but the reality is that Instagram will always be tweaking their algorithm. Change is inevitable. And sometimes that means you’ll experience a drop in engagement.
But they’re also giving you opportunities, in the form of new features like Instagram Stories, to empower your own engagement.
One in five Instagram Stories gets at least one DM from viewers. That’s huge! Not to mention that posting on Stories keeps you interacting with your audience. Speaking of which …
4. You can post regularly … without annoying your audience.
Nobody wants to be that brand that updates their grid ten times a day. It’s just too much, both from a follower perspective and a productivity perspective.
But in order to keep engagement high, you need to be, well, engaging.
Which is where Stories come in. You can post multiple Stories (as many as you want!) and it’s totally socially-acceptable. Your Stories become like mini chapters that keep your audience checking back for more.
5. You don’t have to worry about posting at the right time.
Figuring out when to post on your social accounts is like an intense high-stakes chess game. Post at the right time, and you capture the queen and check-mate the king. Post at the wrong time and you’re five moves behind.
But with Instagram Stories you can post at any time and your Story will be available for 24-hours. #easy #alwayswinning
6. You *may* be able to link to pages in your Stories.
If you have over 10,000 followers, you can harness a ‘swipe up’ feature in Instagram Stories to connect your Story with a link, like a web page, blog post or product.
This makes it so much easier to take your audience outside of Instagram and increase your chance of transforming them from follower to buyer.
7. You’ll build a more personal and meaningful relationship with your audience.
Sometimes it can feel like Instagram posts are talking AT you. But with Instagram Stories, it’s more like you’re actually engaging and interacting with a business. It’s a conversation, one that you can join in with special Stories features like polls. It’s fun, it’s personal and it offers a behind-the-scenes look at a business and individual.
Plus, we love that Instagram Stories allow you to showcase your personality and really open up with your audience.
