Imagine that there’s a dinner party in your favourite city. It’s filled to the brim with exactly the type of people you want your business to attract. And for one night only, you’ve been gifted with the power of invisibility. You can walk around and listen in without anybody knowing you’re there.

After you’ve finished snooping around (no judgement here), you catch a snippet of conversation that makes you pause.

Wait a minute; somebody is complaining that they can’t find anybody to help them with …

… what you do! What your business offers!

You wait with bated breath as their friend says, “Have you heard of …”

The good news is that … this conversation hasn’t happened yet.

This is a future conversation between two of the peeps within your target market.

And there are still things you can do to ensure that your business ends up as the name on their lips.

Eight tips to ensure your biz is the name on their lips

1.    Make sure your logo is gorgeous and memorable.

If you’ve ever doubted the importance of your logo, think of it this way: Your logo is the face of your business.

It’s often what people remember the most after a quick interaction with your brand and it has huge potential to make an impact. Which means, in short, it’s important.

We recommend using your logo as an opportunity to catch your target market’s eye and imprint your business on their memory.

2.    Invest in beautiful photography.

Humans are visual creatures. And beautiful photography not only attracts your audience’s eyes, but it also supports and accentuates your brand message.

In the same vein, image quality can reflect on the perceived quality of your business and brand.

We recommend investing in stock photography (or, ideally, a custom photo shoot) to ensure your brand’s visuals incite must-have-must-talk-about feels.

3.    A clear and consistent colour scheme

A red and white sticker on a clear bottle with brown liquid inside. You know who – and what – we’re talking about, right? (If you’re stuck, it rhymes with ‘Loca Lola’).

Colours are powerful. And colours used with intention and purpose? Even more powerful … at least for your brand.

Which is why we recommend cultivating a clear and consistent colour scheme for your brand (and sticking to it!)

Ideally, your audience should be able to recognise your brand purely from the colour palette you use. Bonus points if your colour scheme is a little bit unexpected (it’ll make your brand stand out).

4.    Stylish font combinations.

At Delilah Creative, we’re all about that base. Base fonts, that is.

Fonts can make or break your visuals and you should aim to have two go-to fonts to round out your branding.

5.    Prominently display your mission statement.

You know how you spent an eternity defining and refining what your business would do? And not in an ‘I offer xyz’ way, but in a big, bold ‘this is my mission’ way.

Well, now it’s time to put that brilliant mission of yours to good use! So often businesses spend time carving out an aligned and cohesive mission, only to leave it in their branding files to gather dust.

But not you. You’re clever. And you’re going to put your businesses’ mission front and centre on your home page … plus on all of your social media bios too.

6.    Have clear a clear call to action on your website and social.

Want to know the secret to getting people to check out and play with your brand for as long as possible?

It’s simple: Create a customer experience that guides them from where they are to where you want them to be.

This guidance, or signpost, is your call to action and it tells your audience what you want them to do.

For example, after somebody has finished reading your home page, what would you like them to do? Check out your ‘about’ page? View your services? Get in touch? Make it clear what their next step is and you will effortlessly keep your audience’s attention and stay on their mind for longer.

7.    A compelling brand personality.

Want to make your audience smile AND position yourself with distinctive expertise and authority?

Give your brand a personality.

Yep, we’re serious. A proper humanoid personality for your biz.

8.    A pinch of secret sauce that’s all you.

Never be afraid to showcase your unique personality in your branding too. If, like our founder, Hester, you’ve personally built your business from the ground up, then part of your branding will always have a bit of your essence woven through it.

In which case … flaunt it! This is what makes you and your business special and one-of-a-kind.
